Niagara Falls will host new guests at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, although it isn't another set of wings. There will be nine (9) additional species joining the butterflies for 2012 including:

- Emerald Tree Boa
- Jungle Carpet Python
- Red Footed Tortoise
- Emperor Scorpions
- Common Marmoset
- Brazilian Short Tailed Opossum
- Cuviers Dwarf Caiman
- Panther Chameleon
- White’s Tree Frog
- The Reticulated Python

A discount rate is available until April 15th 2012 when you book the attraction tickets online. The online booking process with Niagara Parks is really easy and helps you to get past the lines on busy weekends in Niagara Falls. More information about booking and details about the exhibit from Little Ray's Reptile Zoo is available on the Niagara Parks website - click here.

The Butterfly Conservatory will not be hosting any human guests overnight, luckily Marriott Hotels are here to help. Try the Marriott Escape at the Marriott Gateway on the Falls or the Two Night Package at the Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa.

If you haven't been to the ice wine festival yet, I highly recommend you go this weekend before you miss it! January 28th and 29th are the last days the festival is running, but there is still so much to do at the many wineries that are participating. The Discovery Pass gets you entry into 6 wineries to taste their icewine and enjoy ice wine themed treats. For instance, last weekend I enjoyed two types of icewine at Peller Estates Winery, along with a delicious marshmallow infused with icewine, that we were able to cook over an open fire. Don't miss out on this great experience! For more information, click here.

If you prefer to book your icewine experience with a stay here at the Marriott Fallsview, our Ice Wine Package is still available here.

There are two more Free Skate days available at the TD Rink at the Brink. TD Free Skate Days provide free admission for everyone on January 30 and February 13. This does not include skate rentals. You can also enjoy free hot chocolate and a free souvenir photo of your skating by the Falls experience! Free parking for TD RINK attendees is also provided courtesy of the Niagara Parks Commission.

The CAA Winter Festival of Lights kindly requests you bring a non-perishable food or cash donation for Project SHARE.

The 35th annual Al Reid's Old Timer's Hockey Tournament begins tomorrow, January 19th in Niagara Falls. This tournament features players up to 70 years old, and is described as good clean fun hockey without the hitting, but still good hockey to watch. 72 teams are competing this year, bringing close to 1,800 visitors to the Falls. The best part is, admission is free.

The first game starts Thursday, January 19th at 5:30 PM at the Gales Centre in Niagara Falls. The tournament runs until Sunday, January 22nd.

I just saw an article in the Niagara Falls review about the natural ice formations that appeared around the Falls over the weekend. The mist from the Falls froze around the bushes surrounding the Horseshoe Falls, producing amazing ice sculptures. Just another reason to book your stay at Marriott Fallsview, the closest hotel to the Falls!
