Twenty-five years to the date of the start of the Man In Motion World Tour, Canadian hero Rick Hansen started the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay. On his journey of making the world more accessible the tour began August 24th, 2011 in Cape Spear, Newfoundland. Traveling through over 600 communities hitting every capital city and all provinces and territories the relay will reach more than 70% of the Canadian population. This time around the tour will engage approximately 7000 participants who all wish to make a difference in their own right. For more information please visit www. rickhansenrlay.com

The relay will be in the Niagara area (St. Catharines, Thorold, and Niagara Falls) November 14, 2011. Cheer on the people who are making a difference in our community at the End of Day Celebration being held at the Scotiabank Convention Center located in Niagara Falls. Join the festivities from 5 – 6pm with a special appearance by performer Justin Hines!

Free parking at the Scotiabank Convention Center.

Outdoor Experience in Niagara

There are a lot of ways to take in the wine experience. Tours, Tastings and Talks are among the most popular.

Tours
Niagara on the Lake and the remainder of the Niagara Region is beautiful, albeit for different reasons. Most tours will take you from the busy city of Niagara Falls to one of the wineries in Niagara on the Lake, Beamsville or Vineland. The tour can include talks and tastings although they shouldn't be the only consideration. The Niagara Escarpment, including Queenston Heights gives you a birds eye view of the wine country without having to fly. Coastal tours along Lake Ontario can take you to Konzelmann Estate Winery (link below) a highlight for lover of dessert wines.

Tastings
Niagara is a global wine capital, and it is among one of the best places in the world for food. Locally grown food from Ontario's Greenbelt is an important consideration for the great chefs of Niagara, pair your tasting with their expertise. The Pilliteri Winery is known for its ice wines, a regional specialty. Ice wine tastings are a unique luxury and fall and winter gourds offer a timely pairing. Bring a comfortable shirt, tastings can get messy even among the most experienced.

Talks
Learn from the best about the techniques used to make some of your favourite wines. The effect of humidity, temperature and proximity to water can have an early impact on wine. Great wine makers can share with you the basics of making good wine, or at a minimum keep you from damaging your house or workshop in the quest for your personal wine. Even wine lovers that aren't interested in making wine have the opportunity to learn about wine forecasting - getting a great vintage for a great price. Confused? Visit Niagara on the Lake today.

If there is one thing I love about the Marriott Fallsview during the holidays, it's the huge tree in the lobby. November 1st marks the annual tree preparation for the holiday season. I took a picture of the tree which is about 40% decorated at this point. The holidays are fast approaching so be sure to book our Winter Festival of Lights Tour and/or our New Year's Eve Package soon! Both packages will sell out and here's a tip: the sooner you book the more money you will save!

The Terrapin Grille Fallsview Restaurant is located within the hotel. Not only will you experience breathtaking views of Niagara Falls, your tastebuds will also be delighted with seasonally prepared cuisine by Chef Ron Kneabone.
