There’s a brand new cultural destination in the Niagara region–the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) in St Catharines. This new venue for performing artists has been established to promote artists and encourage talent from diverse artistic fields. Programmes related to music, dance, theatre, film and other fields will be showcased at the state-of-the-art centre. Lovers of the performing arts, patrons and the artists themselves will be in for a great experience at the 95,000 square foot cultural and academic centre located on the corner of St. Paul and Carlisle Street. The complex has four different venues for various kinds of programs.
The biggest is the grand Partridge Hall with 781 seats; it is a multi-purpose concert hall that can host music, dance or theatre performances. The hall has high quality sound systems with rotating acoustical walls as well as lighting and video installation systems. Cairns Recital Hall is a 304-seat hall and is great for smaller performances in an intimate ambience. Small music groups, singing or spoken word performances are all ideal for staging at this hall. The Robertson Theatre is suitable for various types of performances as it has adjustable seating with retractable seats along with tables, chairs, stools, etc.
Performances, Workshops, Film
The 2,600 square foot space can be used for performances, workshops, seminars, team-building events, etc. The Film House delivers a movie-going experience that is different from the multiplex one. It offers world cinema along with multiple film genres for the movie buff. The 199 seat movie hall has a stage in front of the screen that is apt for Q&A sessions post movie screenings, stand-up comedy or speaker series. Additional space in the complex and outside it can be used for several kinds of events such as performances, dinner receptions, outdoor concerts, etc.
