From the glass-encased hexagonal shaped winery to the lush surrounding of the vineyard, everything about Flat Rock Cellars (FRC) Winery gives off a wonderful vibe. The winery, established in 1999, is located on the Jordan bench area of the Niagara Escarpment in Lincoln. This winery believes in producing great wine on their 80-acre vineyard along with giving visitors a personal wine experience.
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer grapes are used to produce wine using superior wine-making equipment as well as effective vineyard management methods. All this has resulted in high-quality wines such as the 2007 Reserve Chardonnay and the 2008 Estate Riesling that have gone on to win awards. You can visit this winery to sample their red, white, rose and sparkling wines at the tasting bar. There are also various tours available for visitors.
The 30-minute General Admission Tour entitles you to three wine samplings, a vineyard visit and a look at the five-level gravity-flow production facility and barrel cellar. The Backstage Tour has a senior staff member guiding visitors through the vineyards, the production facility and the barrel cellar. You can also enjoy a private, sit-down tasting of the best wines produced in the winery. The V.I.P Oak Tour focuses on the secrets of the barrel and is an interactive sensory experience. Sample five wines, take a tour and receive an FRC Academy Certificate. Ed’s Tour is a personalised tour by Ed Madronich, president and founder of Flat Rock Cellars. As you tour the vineyard, learn about the art of winemaking and indulge in a private tasting of wines chosen by Ed.
