For years Pillitteri Estate Winery has been a leader in Icewine production and regularly picked up international awards with their range.
The pedigree of the Pillitteri family is well established, going back to grape-growing in Sicily at the beginning of the 20th century. The family settled in Niagara in 1948 and have grown their own icewine vineyards since 1988. The estate that now stands on the vineyard grounds is a celebration of that family heritage, filled with heirlooms and proudly flaunting its massive concrete wine cellar.
The most decorated ice wine from Pillitteri is perhaps the vidal, but their Riesling Icewine and the sparkling vidal are also regular award-winners. Rounding out the selection is the Sangiovese style – a rare blend and a unique dessert wine.
Completing the selection of wines from Pillitteri is the ‘Twenty-Three’ range – mostly with soft, sweets reds like Rosso Dolce and zesty whites like Dolce Bianco – the Family Reserve selection of premium red blends, and a collection of other labels and blends under the ‘Extended Family’ umbrella. Aficionados will also want to take note of the Exclamation reds – currently available in cabernet franc or merlot, both Exclamation wines are international award-winners.
