Chubby Checker

If you are a lover of classic rock ‘n’ roll, you’ll want to see Chubby Checker live and in concert. The Niagara Casino Concert series is featuring a concert dedicated to the rocking hits of Chubby Checker, the musical legend that catapulted “The Twist” dance craze into popularity.

Still Going Strong

There are not many musicians like Chubby Checker; he's still performing and entertaining audiences worldwide. Chubby is mostly knownfor his number one hit “The Twist.”, but make no mistake though, Chubby Checker was anything but a one-hit wonder. He had many other popular songs including "Back In The U.S.S.R.", "Loddy Lo", "The Fly", "Pony Time", "Limbo Rock", "(Dance The) Mess Around" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On".

Musical Career

Chubby Checker first broke out with his two hits in 1959, “the Class” and “Dancing Dinosaur.” After his early success and using his unique voice, he was urged to make his very own version of “The Twist.” He was hesitant at first to take on this classic song, but it was one of the best decisions that Checker ever made. It was originally Hank Ballard’s hit, but Chubby Checker made it into his one and started the dance craze the swept the nation.

It was the version performed by Chubby Checker that really put “The Twist” into pop culture and made it a hit song that almost every generation is familiar with today. He is known as “The King of the Twist” and even performed on the famed show hosted by Dick Clark known as “American Bandstand.” It was the first song to ever get into the number one spot in two separate years.

See Him Live

Now you have the ability to see Chubby Checker show off his performance skills and wow you with his soulful voice. He will be performing at 3pm on May 5-7, 2015.
