Duran Duran, an English synthpop band, is one of the legendary and most famous band from 1980’s.
Duran Duran History
Formed in Birmingham back in 1978, Duran Duran has successfully made their stardom in 1980’s, and become a leading band in ‘Second British Invasion’ in US MTV. Since 80’s, the band has already received a great standing on the UK Single Chart where 14 of their singles was placed on the Top 10 Chart while 21 of them reigned at ‘Billboard Hot 100’. The band has also sold over one hundred million records and also conducted many international shows. The band is comprised Nick Rhodes (keyboardist), John Taylor (bassist), and with the newest member Roger Taylor (drummer), Andy Taylor (guitarist) and Simon Le Bon (lead singer).
Duran Duran Awards, Hall of Fames and Concerts
The band has already received numerous awards throughout the course of their career including: 2004 award for ‘Outstanding Music Contribution’, 2 Grammy awards, and an MTV music video award for ‘Lifetime Achievement’. Duran Duran was also awarded as one of the stars that was given with legendary ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’. Along with the band Spandau Ballet, the band was generally considered as part of New Romantic Scene. Duran Duran was one of the first bands that viewed music videos as an art form, having music videos shot by world-renowned and professional directors, with 33mm film movie cameras which gives their music videos a more polished look compared to standards video during that time. They are also the early innovators of modern video technology in 1984 during their live stadium shows.
They are known for their controversial and sensual videos, including partial nudity & suggestions of sexuality, which also become popular in the early 80’s and then-new music MTV channels. The band group was not disbanded, but after the separation of their guitarist Andy Taylor, Duran Duran ‘s line-up was changed, which already included Warren Caccurullo (former guitarist of Missing Person) from 1989 to 2001, and drummer Sterling Campbell in the early 2000s.
