It’s almost that time of the year when jack-o’-lanterns are made and children go trick-or-treating. Yes, it’s Halloween in October! And Niagara Falls has plans to celebrate it with much gusto through events and programmes to mark the day. Check out these wonderful ways to enjoy Halloween in the city.
Halloween in Niagara Falls
Niagara Parks–All Hallows Eve
Prepare for scares at the Niagara Parks–All Hallows Eve in nearby Fort Erie on October 22, 28 & 29. Get an insight into Halloween traditions at Canada's bloodiest battlefield through an interesting evening with ‘ghosts’ from the past. Listen to some spooky tales to truly get into the spirit of Halloween. The historic grounds of Fort Erie are an apt setting for All Hallows Eve and the night time adds to the atmosphere. The event draws to a close with refreshments and the burning of a Guy Fawkes effigy. People of all ages can enjoy this event and tour times are 7:30 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Rocky Horror Show LIVE
An exciting night is in store at the Oh Canada Eh? theatre, Lundy’s Lane with the Rocky Horror Show LIVE performance. Prepare to be spooked and entertained while actually contributing to a good cause. The event is a fundraiser for Positive Living Niagara (previously AIDS Niagara). Partial proceeds from ticket sales and the complete proceeds from the audience participation kits will go to this non-profit organization.
This interactive show starts off when Brad Majors and his fiancée Janet Weiss have a vehicle breakdown while heading somewhere. They land up at a strange house down the road to ask for help. It happens to be the residence of Dr. Frank N. Furter, and what follows is a very strange experience. It’s an unforgettable night for the couple as they meet Riff-Raff, Magenta, Columbia, Rocky and other interesting folk. Popular numbers including "Time Warp" and "Damn It Janet" will keep you entertained. The show is a bit naughty so it is recommended for those aged 18 and above. Performances will be held on October 21, 22, 27, 30 and November 4 and 5. The show doesn’t include a meal but you can try the appetizers available for purchase.
Halloween Illumination of the Falls
You can never get tired of admiring spectacular Niagara Falls. When fireworks and illumination light up the falls, it makes for a very stunning sight. During Halloween, the atmosphere turns a wee bit mysterious at the falls when they are lit up in an orange hue. The dark colours of the night make the illuminated falls stand out like a burning fire. The glow emanating from the waters gives an eerie feeling although you just can’t take your eyes off it. In fact it puts you right in the mood to celebrate Halloween.
Gather your family and friends and head to Niagara Falls this October to get into the spirit of Halloween.
