4 Fun and Free Illumination Experiences in Niagara Falls

Illumination Experiences in Niagara Falls

From breathtaking fireworks shows to one-of-a-kind light displays, here are four of the best wintertime illumination experiences to check out while visiting Niagara Falls this holiday season.

Laser Light Shows

From December 22nd to January 7th you can experience nightly Laser Light Shows at the top of Clifton Hill as part of Niagara Falls’ annual Winter Festival of Lights. These thrilling shows are free to everyone and will be taking place at the Victoria Avenue Promenade at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30. Each show lasts fifteen minutes and in between showtimes you can also stop by the Interactive Laser Booth to draw pictures or write messages in mesmerizing laser lights.

Falls and Skylon Tower Illumination

Every evening at dusk, the Horseshoe and American Falls are bathed in beautiful multi-coloured lights that create an incredible view you won’t want to miss. And just last year the lights were completely replaced with new energy-efficient LED lights, which now make the Falls illumination brighter than ever before. Just across the street from the Falls illumination is the Skylon Tower, which is also lit-up every night in beautiful lights, and on December 25th will feature a special red illumination in celebration of Christmas Day.

Fireworks Shows

One of the most spectacular nighttime sights to experience in Niagara Falls is a fireworks show over the Horseshoe and American Falls, which happen every Friday night in December at 9 pm. And from December 22nd to 29th there will be additional shows every single night in honour of the holidays, with two special shows happening on December 31st at 9 pm and 11:59 pm as part of the outdoor New Year’s Eve celebration in Queen Victoria Park. See the sky above Niagara Falls lit up in a dazzling display of fireworks by catching one of these fantastic shows this holiday season.

Winter Festival of Lights

Niagara Falls’ annual Winter Festival ofLights is on now until January 31st, lighting up 8km of Niagara parklands and the main tourist district in Niagara Falls with millions of sparkling lights and one-of-a-kind illumination displays. This year’s illuminations include the iconic Zimmerman fountain in Queen Victoria Park, over fifty trees in Dufferin Islands, the world’s largest Canadian-American flag along the Niagara Parkway, and three-dimensional Canadian wildlife displays. There is no admission fee to view the illuminations and it is a perfect family-friendly activity to do while in Niagara Falls this winter.
