Canada Day Niagara Falls 2015

Canada Day Niagara Falls 2015

On July 1st, Canadians will come out in huge numbers to celebrate a very special occasion. It’s Canada Day, that time of the year when the citizens of the country honour the day when the British North America Act, 1867 was enacted. Also known as the Constitution Act, it was on this day that the three colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada were united to form the country of Canada within the British Empire.

50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag

Just two years short of the Canada Day centennial celebrations, the Canadian flag was hoisted for the first time on Parliament Hill on February 15, 1965. It was on this day that a Royal Proclamation gave official status to the now instantly recognizable red and white maple leaf flag. Later, in 1996, this day was declared National Flag of Canada Day and has been celebrated with much fervour ever since. The year 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the national flag of Canada and that is one more reason to celebrate the occasion of Canada Day.
