One of the most popular tourist attractions in Niagara Falls, Hornblower Niagara Cruises will soon provide visitors a superlative experience with their new infrastructure. Work will begin soon for the construction of a Funicular Incline Railway system and existing elevators at the site will be modernized. The system will benefit tour groups immensely as it will reduce wait times to reach the Hornblower Landing area. It will be ready in time for the 2017 tourist season.
Hornblower Niagara Falls Incline Railway
Engineering and Design Companies AnCam of Oakville, Ontario along with Heller Manus of San Francisco, California will join hands to complete the Niagara Falls Incline Railway project. Additionally, the elevators at the cruise location are also being upgraded. The four elevators with an increased capacity of 35% will reduce the lines waiting to board the catamarans during the busy tourist season. Hornblower is investing $5 million on the entire project.
Hornblower Incline Railway Capacity
Between 1977 and 1990, this area was also the site of the former Maid of the Mist Incline Railway. With the new Incline Railway, visitors can have easy access from the Niagara Parkway to the Hornblower Landing area. The Incline Railway will be situated next to the Hornblower Group Tour Check-in kiosk at the foot of Clifton Hill and will ensure a comfortable, scenic ride to the boarding site. Two rail cars will transport visitors, and each car will have a capacity of 56 passengers.
Niagara’s Premier Boat Cruise
With air-conditioning and heating as well as an audio guide during the journey, the Incline Railway plans to ensure a comfortable ride for visitors. The rail coaches will be enclosed with state-of the-art glass and will provide clear panoramic views of the Niagara Falls area. During the ride, passengers can enjoy stunning views of the Canadian Falls, the American Falls, the Great Gorge and the Niagara River.
With every passing year, Hornblower Niagara Cruises has witnessed an upward trend in its number of visitors. More than 2.2 million passengers enjoyed the cruise experience in 2016. With the new infrastructure and modernization of current facilities, visitors will get an even better experience in the coming tourist season. So climb aboard the Funicular Incline Railway system and Hornblower Niagara Cruises catamarans for a wonderful time at the Falls in 2017!
