Labour Day Long Weekend in Niagara Falls

Labour Day Long Weekend in Niagara Falls

Labour Day is a public holiday in Canada (and the United States). Celebrated on the first Monday of September, Labour Day in Canada forms a three-day long weekend full of opportunities for fun-seekers.

In 2015, the three-day weekend kicks off from Friday evening, on September 4th and continues until Labour Day itself on the 7th.

2015 Niagara Falls Labour Day Highlights

Fireworks & Free Concert

Labour Day Fireworks

For spectacle, Niagara can always be counted on to deliver for both night shows and daytime thrills. If you love a good fireworks show, then stick around for the big holiday show on the evening of the 7th for a free Coca-Cola concert and a major armament of fireworks.

Onguiaahra Laser Light Show

Onguiaahra Laser Light Show

The Labour Day weekend is also the end of the season for Onguiaahra, or ‘Thunder of Waters’: a laser, light and water fountain show across from the American Falls. This show runs regularly from August 28th until Labour Day evening.

Summer of Thrills Free Stunt Show

Summer of Thrills

For the daytime excitement, don’t miss the ‘Summer of Thrills’, the biggest stunt show in town. Skyscraper sway pole acts, motorcycle high wire stunts, and a massive Wheel of Fate dominate the show, alongside other acrobatic displays. There are multiple shows per day in Clifton Hill so anyone in town at the time doesn’t have much on an excuse to miss out – especially since it’s free.

Niagara Glen Gorge Tour

Niagara Glen Labour Day Tour

For a quieter time, nature enthusiasts are being offered a free tour of the Niagara Glen Gorge, escorted by experts from Niagara Park Naturalists, on Saturday 5 September. It’s a great opportunity to see the iconic landscape and learn about the history of the gorge’s unique formations.

Concerts & Comedy Shows

Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre

Fill in the time around fireworks and nature walks with shows and big-name performances. For one night only on September 5, comedian and actor Kevin James (King of Queens, Paul Blart: Mall Cop) is on stage at Seneca Niagara Casino, right in the heart of town. Or head up to Jackson Triggs Winery for their summer concert sessions on the Saturday for local rock band Arkells.

And this is all just the tip of the iceberg. The long weekend is packed with things to do and see, so if you’re in town be sure to make the most of them.
