The Niagara Falls Incline Railway is now open for 2015 Season.
The line was originally created in 1966 by Swiss company Von Roll, and is one of only two operational funicular railways in all of Canada.
According to Niagara Parks, this is the slowest funicular railway in the world.
57 seconds to travel 518 metres
This is touted as a positive; the slower ride allows guests to take spectacular photo and video of the Falls from the Railway’s unique vantage point.
The railway is located at 7001 Portage Road, and is easily accessible from the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa Skywalk bridge entrance, located at the back of the property.
The railways destination is the Table Rock Welcome Centre, which is adjacent to the Journey Behind the Falls and the Horseshoe Falls themselves.
The railway is climate-controlled, and enclosed. Tickets can be purchased at self-serve kiosks located at the top and bottom of the railway.
