Niagara Falls will welcome in the spring season on March 20th with its budding new life, green landscapes, and tons of spring activities. There’s fresh energy in the air as new sights and sounds herald spring. The gorgeous waterfalls break free from the ice and cascade freely with renewed vigour. Colourful blossoms, blue skies and green carpets of grass dot the landscape. Enjoy the beauty of the season by visiting some wonderful locations that come alive during spring.

Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens

Niagara Falls has wonderful parks and gardens which are a joy to behold during springtime. The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens is a beautiful spot with 99 acres of lovely flowers and plants. Located on the Niagara Parkway, the gardens are home to various varieties of herbs, vegetables, rhododendrons, azaleas and a formal parterre garden. One of the highlights here is the spectacular rose garden which has over 2,400 roses. The gardens are also home to the enchanting Butterfly Conservatory.

Queen Victoria Park

The magnificent Queen Victoria Park buzzes with activity during springtime. It has incredible views of the Niagara Falls and an amazing display of flowers in full bloom.

Colourful blossoms dot the landscape here:

  • Tulips
  • chrysanthemums
  • hybrid tea rose garden
  • magnolia trees
  • carpet bedding
  • lovely lawns

all come together to create an artistic masterpiece. When spring arrives, the park looks stunning with almost 500,000 daffodils blooming in lovely hues. You can stroll through the gardens, go on a horse carriage ride or simply relax on a bench and take in the sights.

Oakes Garden Theatre

Located at the foot of Clifton Hill, Oakes Garden Theatre is the gateway to Queen Victoria Park. The original landscape of the area was used by the designers to create a central amphitheatre surrounded by natural beauty.

Situated against the backdrop of the falls, the Garden Theatre looks very pretty during springtime. All around the amphitheatre are shrub gardens, wonderful flower arrangements, gardens with carpet bedding that showcase geometric patterns and have walkways, a lily pond, rock gardens, fountains, a passageway with incredible panoramic views of the falls and much more.

Hornblower Niagara Cruises

If you want to have a really close encounter with the falls, the Hornblower Niagara Cruises’ Voyage to the Falls boat tour is a must. The cruises that are closed during winter welcomes spring by starting operations once again. Passengers aboard the 700 capacity catamarans are provided with raincoats as the encounter with the falls is at a very close proximity.

You can take your position on the upper or lower deck and watch with wonder as you pass by the American and Bridal Veil Falls. It’s an awe-inspiring moment when the boat enters the basin of the humongous Horseshoe Falls. You are right in front of the waterfall that thunders down with an incredible sound and sprays you with its waters. It is an unforgettable experience, one that you must enjoy during springtime when Hornblower opens on April 1st.
