Top Three Outdoor Concert Venues in the Niagara Region

It’s no secret that Niagara Falls and the surrounding townships have a great track record for stage shows and outdoor performances. Even in winter the festival shows in Queen Victoria Park are a hotspot for music lovers. But in summer the larger venues come alive and there are plenty of places to see both local and international acts in the sunshine.

Best Niagara Outdoor Concert Venue

The Commons at Butler’s Barracks

A site on the fringe of Niagara-on-the-Lake with a long history beyond being a concert venue, being military territory from the 1700s until the mid-20th century. As a place to hear music, think of an open but accommodating field like a smaller and more manageable version of big music festival grounds.

Performances here are a little less common, but always well received. The last big bash was when Mumford and Sons played in mid-2015 to positive reviews.

Jackson-Triggs Amphitheatre

Always trust a modern winery to know how to entertain. Jackson-Triggs is making some of the best wines coming out of southern Canada at the moment, and their ‘Signature Events’ include a Summer Concert Series hosted at the amphitheatre nestled in their estate near Niagara-on-the-Lake. The music comes accompanies with estates wines and gourmet food.

The 2016 program runs from June until December and includes major Canadian music acts such as the Sam Roberts Band, Steven Page, Colin James and 54-40.

The Artpark is a venue on the other side of the Niagara River. Since 1974 these grounds in Lewiston, New York have become a major hub for big acts, in both the 2400-seat indoor theatre and the three-tiered amphitheatre overlooking the Niagara Gorge. It is both a family-friendly venue and a regular hotspot to catch a wide variety of music: classic rock, major internationally lauded acts, orchestral performances and so on.

In 2016’s roster, kicking off from June, that top-tier lineup includes Bob Dylan, Whitesnake, Barenaked Ladies and Dolly Parton.

Niagara's Outdoor Concert Season

Niagara's outdoor concert season runs from May to October, with the above venues as well as smaller locations such as Queen Victoria Park, Queenston Lewiston Bandshell and Fireman's Park all featuring outdoor concerts throughout the season.
