When you visit Niagara Falls, there are so many places to see in and around the city–the spectacular falls, parks, gardens, entertainment avenues, shopping destinations and various other attractions. To have a good time, it is essential to find the best modes of transport to take you around and there are various choices in Niagara Falls. While buses and taxis are readily available to take you to your destination, two of the best transportation options are the WEGO bus and the Niagara Falls Incline Railway.
Niagara Falls WEGO
The WEGO bus is a great way to explore Niagara Falls as it covers a wide range of places. Hop on to a bus to travel to and fro from the train/bus stations, your hotel and the various attractions around the city. WEGO buses are air-conditioned with state of the art technology like a video infotainment system and automated stop announcements. The buses are also fully equipped to cater to people with disabilities.
Operational since 2012, WEGO has four lines of buses–Green, Red, Blue and Purple. Each of these bus lines takes you to different places and the connecting hub for all four lines is the Table Rock Welcome Centre next to the Horseshoe Falls. The Green Line WEGO transports travellers to the Niagara Parks attractions like the Falls section on the Niagara Parkway and various other spots. The Blue Line covers the popular entertainment and business spots like the Fallsview tourist area, Clifton Hill, various hotels and Table Rock. Visitors taking the Red Line can travel down Lundy’s Lane and the bus explores destinations like the IMAX Theatre, Fallsview Casino, Table Rock and several others. The route taken by the Purple Line traverses Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill, Table Rock and other attractions.
Niagara Falls Incline Railway
Another great way to travel to and fro between the Fallsview tourist area including hotels and Table Rock on the Niagara Parkway is the Niagara Falls Incline Railway. As the name suggests, this transport system travels on a sloped surface at a 30 degree incline with the railway cars moving up and down carrying the passengers. This double track system uses two cars, each with a capacity of 40 passengers. The Incline Railway offers great views–you can even see the falls as you go down. This transport system is a boon if you want to travel between Table Rock and the hotels at Fallsview as you can reach your destination in a jiffy–the distance is covered in just under a minute.
The other way to reach Table Rock and back in this area is by walking. It’s a long walk and you can save up to 20 minutes each way by riding on the Niagara Falls Incline Railway. That’s a lot of time and energy saved, energy that you can most definitely put to better use especially if you are tired after a long day out. It is also a wonderful option for those travelling with infants, young children and for the elderly.
